Evening in Talinn by Akin Oladimeji
from Aerialist published by Survivors' Press 2007

Warm and from my window
the sun spreads its subtle self across the white wals opposite me,
interplay of light and shadow mesmerising.
You slept on your mattress,
a million things strewn across your floor,
a floor like a minefield,
one wrong step and I could slip,
go down
like a ship
hitting an iceberg.

Rock throbs from the speakers
of your flatmate
and at the moment I couldn't
ask for more.
